What is Pu’erh Tea?

Pu’erh tea is a tea made from Pu’erh tea leaves. It originates from China and is unique because it undergoes an aging process. The period of fermentation was traditionally used in order to improve the benefits that came with the regular tea leaf but it also changed the flavor. It has a uniquely, mild earthy flavor that will change and deepen depending on the length of time that you steep it for. 

Steeping it for 1 minute gives you a unique earthy taste with some honey notes on the side. If you steep it for 2 minutes the earthy taste will get stronger developing into a tangy bitter taste. Steeping for 3 minutes will result in strong and bitter tea. The amount of time that you steep your tea for will depend on your taste preference.
